Big Idea: Dr. Adaora Okoli on Humanizing Health Care

As one of the few to survive Ebola, Dr. Adaora Okoli, an internal medicine resident physician at Tulane University, shared her big idea about using the COVID-19 pandemic as an opportunity to reprioritize human interaction in healthcare during the recent all-digital Aspen Ideas Festival (June 28-July 2). Okoli is working to strengthen health systems to reduce the burden of infectious diseases in low-income communities and achieve equitable access to health for all. About the Speaker:

Adaora Okoli is an internal medicine resident at Tulane University. A medical doctor who was one of the few to survive the Ebola virus disease, she became the face of Nigeria’s response to the 2014 West African epidemic. Okoli is working to strengthen health systems in order to reduce the burden of infectious diseases in low-income communities and achieve equitable access to health for all. She is a member of the 2020 class of New Voices Fellows at the Aspen Institute.
